Cape Town Photo Club
We are a club that is less formal than the traditional organisations and we firmly believe that the best way to improve your photography is by getting out there and shooting, rather than just relying on theory and instruction.
Throughout the year we hold evening workshops in and around Cape Town “focusing” on different topics allowing you to pick and choose to learn about the aspects of photography that most appeal to you. The evening sessions are just the start however as we are devising tours and outings that will let you practice your newly acquired skills in the real world.
Membership to the Club is free. All you have to do to join is attend one of the events and you will become a member.
Please sign up to the mailing list to receive notifications of upcoming events and outings:
We welcome photographers of all levels of experience from beginners who want to just Get Off Auto to experienced photographers who would like to unravel the mysteries of HDR photography to take their images to the next level.
Occasionally we may be lucky enough to beg borrow and steal time from some world class photographers who are in town and available to spend an evening showing us some images, telling some tales from their photo adventures and sharing their techniques with us.
The workshops are normally held at The Cape Milner Hotel in Tamboerskloof so members and newbies alike can reward themselves for all that concentration with a delicious meal at a special price after every event. These dinners are hosted by the Cape Town Photo Club and offer a perfect opportunity to meet some fellow photographers, chat about the workshop or just tuck into their meal!
There is a nominal charge of around R100 – R150 per event which covers the cost of the venue, a welcome drink and snacks and the expenses of the person doing the talk which we hope you will agree is great value. The set menu for dinner is usually R200 per person incl the tip.
